Getting started
Picky lives in the macOS menu bar. Click its icon to open Picky Hub, the window where you set things up and review your work. Picky appears in the Dock and app switcher only while Hub is open.
1. Install
Section titled “1. Install”Download Picky, open the disk image, and drag Picky into Applications. You need a Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 14.2 or later.
2. Grant permissions
Section titled “2. Grant permissions”On first launch, Hub shows a setup card with the permissions Picky needs:
| Permission | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Microphone | Push-to-Talk voice input. |
| Accessibility | Global shortcuts and capture interactions. |
| Screen Recording | Screenshots that go with a request. |
| Screen Content | Screen context through ScreenCaptureKit. Appears after Screen Recording is granted. |
Choose Grant on each row. If Picky finds no AI model it can sign in to, the same card shows Connect account.
3. Ask something
Section titled “3. Ask something”- By voice: hold Control + Option, talk, and let go to send.
- By text: double-tap Control to open a text box next to the cursor.
Each request can carry the app and window you are looking at, the browser URL, selected text, and a screenshot, depending on your permissions and screen-context settings.
4. Hand off longer work
